How do you handle other realtors who try to take away from you?

by Riley1980 , in category: Successful Realtor Practices , 4 years ago

Since I work with other realtors, there are often times where people fight over the houses they get to sell. I am mostly in good standing so I haven't had much trouble getting the job to sell a house, but there has been times where other realtors tried to cheat you to take over the listing.

Has this sort of thing ever happened to you? Have you ever had to deal with someone trying to steal your sale?

I have not had to deal with something like this before, but when I start my own company I could see it happening. I know some realtors don't like to compete with one another, yet I know many who love the fight.

But, this is why I want to be a boss of my own real estate company rather than compete with other co-workers.

I am too new to this to respond but I have a friend who has been selling real estate for years and he said this has happened to him a few times. He just moves on from it. A lot of times, if you work under a business, you have to be able to accept what you are dealt. Easy selling houses are always fought over for a good reason.

I have had experiences where I have had homes taken from me as a buyer and I have to say, it is an awful feeling.

I put a bid in on a home only for it to not be accepted because I offered less than what the owner wanted but they end up selling the home for LESS than what I offered a month later. I dealt with this several times when I was house hunting and it was frustrating. I feel as though the realtor I was working with at the time wasn't doing something right.

I've usually had good working relationships with other realtors and realtor companies. There was one time where a new realtor on our crew kept trying to take my listings. I had a talk with him and he cut it out after that. We see competition often though, but it's never really to take away from another. We just want to make a living.

You're bound to encounter problems though. It happens.

I have never had this issue myself but I have seen it happen. I guess if I was in these particular shoes, I would cut my losses and move on. I don't like going into a war with someone over property.
