Not sure if posted yet, but I figure a good thing we can do as realtors is help provide support to weatherproofing ones home. I have an option for anyone who uses our service, that if we sell your home, we'll also help with weatherproofing your home. It's something I like to do to make it even easier on the homeowner.
I always ensure homes are weather proofed before selling them regardless of if the buyer wants it or not. They have to be up-to-code in my area and this includes weatherproofing.
It is just commonsense to have a home up to code and as mentioned, this includes weather proofing. While it is not a law it is required to sell a home in a livable condition. Inspections check for this stuff.
Given what time of year it is, for many states it is all the more important. Big hurricanes are predicted to hit these coming next few months so I think weatherproofing should be a HUGE deal if you leave anywhere these damaging winds will reach.
A lot of home inspections will require home sellers to update or fix issues that would fall under weather proofing. If I am working on strictly helping someone buy a home, it is one of the things I always ensure myself as well as my client looks at and makes sure things are done up the grade and code.

@makenzie.cormier This is a really good point. I mean not many people who live in these areas even consider this when buying a home. I am thankful not to live in the direct path of these storms but we still experience damaging winds and storms from them after the fact.
